If you don’t have TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or Clear Plus then you might be accustomed to long lines at airport security lines. But there’s a free option you might not be aware of which might help alleviate the bottlenecks on your next flight down to Cabo.
Reserve powered by Clear (aka Clear Reserve) offers free security checkpoint reservations at selected airports. In essence, it’s a virtual queuing program that lets you bypass others waiting in line. It is only for passengers without TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or Clear Plus memberships.
To use the Clear Reserve program:
- Use the Clear Reserve website or app, to confirm the Reserve program is available at your airport.
- Reservations can be made from 3 to 7 days in advance, depending on the airport.
- Input your flight details, passenger count, and contact info; then select an available reservation time; you will receive a confirmation email with a QR code
- Show your QR code at the proper TSA checkpoint lane displaying the Clear Reserve fast lane sign.
- You have a 20-minute grace period on your reservation time.
- Everyone in your group will need to be there together to use the reservation.
Note that Clear Reserve reservations cannot be used in conjunction with TSA PreCheck. You will have to remove shoes, electronics, and liquids from your carry-on bags.
